Stanley Cup Playoffs with the Pittsburgh Penguins

Posted by Susan Hyre on

For me, the love of professional hockey started way back before Sidney Crosby or Mario Lemieux, it was back when you could afford a front row seat right behind the players bench. I would purchase a ticket with a Gimbels credit card for $10.00.

It was when names like Randy Carlyle ( I had a mad crush on him ) Pierre Larouche, Rick Kehoe and George Ferguson were just hitting the ice.But get this, they didn't always have to wear helmets! Crazy I know .

Back then, the Civic Area was kinda of empty for most games. You could sit anywhere. That all changed in 1984 when a new very young Canadian hockey player hit the ice in that empty area. The one and only Mario Lemieux came to town.

He changed hockey; he changed Pittsburgh forever.

Hockey in Pittsburgh was never the same, Thank goodness. Everyone became a fan, and the team began winning. In 1991 the first time in history, the Penguins won the Stanley Cup and needless to say Pittsburgh and the fans went crazy. Then to do is again the following year in 1992, two years in a row. Unheard of for this steel town.

After an amazing career in hockey all in Pittsburgh, Mario passed the torch the the next generation of great hockey players. Sid the Kid came to town. He as so young looking.

But with Mario help, it wasn't long before we found out what Sidney Crosby could bring to the ice. Now here we are again in 2017 back in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the 2nd year in a row. In case you didn't know they won last year and as of today we are up 2 - 0 against the Nashville Predators.

Sorry Carrie Underwood, her husband MIke Fisher is the Captain and Center for the Nashville Predators. Carrie has been here in Pittsburgh to watch the fist two game of the playoffs and she not as happy as it looks.

So living in a hockey town like Pittsburgh PA you can see why this is one of the best times of the year! The weather is finally shaping, you can watch hockey outdoors on two big screens in front of PPG Paints Area, or as the local call to it  The Paint Can .

Doesn't get much better than this!  The excitement in the city is just crazy, so that is why we are celebrating !

In the spirit of the celebration we put together a few items at special pricing in the "Lord Stanley Cup Playoff  Specials . " We just wanted to extend the excitement on to our customers & followers " says Brian  J. Thelma's Marketing Manager.

Take a peek at what is on sale and cheer on the Pittsburgh Penguins to another Stanley Cup victory.  Sale end June 4th Click on this link to go to the Special page.

Just want to give a shout out to Mario Lemieux to say thank you for coming to Pittsburgh back in 1984,to play hockey and start your career, but then you stayed to make this your home. Pittsburgh would not have such a great hockey team without you .

Hope you all have a wonderful day, Thank you for reading my thoughts,

Life is 10% is what happens to us and 90% how we react to it.
